Last week Kristina from Love and Zest posted about her ten grocery must haves and encouraged others to share their list. I was inspired and decided to make my own blog post sharing my top must haves and how I use them each week!
1. Oats
Oats are my go to breakfast, I have overnight oats for breakfast probably 4 days a week. Plus I like grounding up oats to make flour for baked goods
2. Nut Butter
Do I even need to explain this!? Almond butter in my oats, peanut butter + dates as a pre-workout snack/dessert, baked goods, sauces, etc.
I try to have salads for lunch a few days a week, and the leftover greens will get sautéed and added to dinners or omelettes
4. Hummus
If I’m listing hummus I should probably list the vehicle I enjoy hummus the most on- carrot sticks… although lately I’ve been digging Mary’s Gone Crackers or Way Better Snacks with my hummus. Crunch is a must! Garlic is the flavor I chose most often and yes I know I can make my own but I honestly rarely do.
5. Garlic
Either cloves or my favorite shortcut- garlic powder! Seriously I put garlic on everything… veggies, grains, meats, dressings, the list goes on and on.
Easy and nutritious! I enjoy beans added to salads, mixed with veggies for a stir fry, or even in my dessert!
7. Tempeh/tofu
I cook meat maybe once/month and it’s chicken… I enjoy tofu and tempeh usually on a weekly basis. They are so much easier to cook than meat and I don’t have to worry about the gross stuff!
8. Eggs
Eggs for breakfast, eggs in baked goods, eggs topping my veggies bowl or pasta- they are a necessity and pack so much good nutrition.
9. Seasonal fruits and veggies (plus some frozen)-
I prefer fresh but time doesn’t always allow for them… what I buy changes weekly except I always buy onions because they go with everything.
10. Chocolate
Every girls gotta have some chocolate… it’s definitely a need for me. Chocolate milk for workout recovery, chocolate chips for desserts, a piece of cacao for an after dinner treat, chocolate is good any time of day J
