It’s been one of those mornings/weeks I think. New year started off with a bang! Actually it hasn’t been that bad but I am getting this post up way later than planned, oops. I’m hoping to get my act back together this year for the blog and life in general… but as far as the blog goes I’m hoping one recipe a week becomes the new norm, no promises though. In true Friday fashion here are a few things I’m loving lately.
A rep from That’s It reached out to me about sharing a sample pack and I am so glad they did.Not only are these bars delicious, they provide two servings a fruit in each bar, come in delicious flavors, and were created for astronauts in space! They have a long shelf life, are resistant to temperature changes, and were approved by NASA’s food lab. I thought that was pretty much one of the coolest things ever! These bars are great for keeping in your car, desk, or gym bag for an emergency snack. Here are some other awesome features of the bars: high fiber, non gmo, gluten free, vegan, kosher, low glycemic, fat and cholesterol free, and 100 calories.
I signed up for ClassPass this week and I’m already in love! So many options- I’m hoping to take 4-5 classes a week and also squeezing in a gym day for a swim. I have no races on my radar for the early spring at this point but I’mhoping to sign up for a spring half. Which brings me to my next point….
3. My foot pain is finally subsiding!
I’ve had left foot pain (not sure what the injury is or what caused it) for over a month. I was fine right after the marathon but then a couple weeks later it was so painful it hurt to walk. While it is not 100% and I’ll probably go another week without running (going on 6 weeks without a run-boo) it definitely feels a lot better. I’m hoping to incorporate slightly higher impact cardio this week and hopefully a run next weekend!
4. Planning travel for the year
If you’ve ever met me you know I love to travel and experience new places, foods, and things. In 2015 I traveled to the Poconos, Miami, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Rochester, Lancaster, Seattle, Portland, N. California Redwoods, San Francisco, Sacramento, Sonoma, the Jersey shore, Seven Springs, the Finger Lakes of NY, Penn State, Nashville, and Chicago. I’m slightly disappointed I didn’t leave the country but it was awesome to visit some new to me cities in the U.S. Pat and I are trying to plan a big European trip for the early fall- the highlight will be Italy but we are trying to decide if we want to do two weeks there or take a short flight to also see Spain while we are over there. The next trip on the agenda to kick of 2016 is Texas in two weeks. We will be visiting our friends in San Antonio and then doing a day trip to Austin. Let me know if you have any recos!
5. The Steelers in the playoffs
I am a huge sports fan and being Pittsburgh born and raised I’m a diehard Steelers fan even though I now reside in Philly. I’m super psyched to see the Steelers grab a playoff spot and hope they come through big time this year. The hubs and I already have our bets placed against each other for the Wild Card games this weekend. BTW we celebrated my win over him for our regular season pick em at another Philly Top 50 restaurant– Townsend. Ever since this year’s list came out in December I think we have visited 5 places on it…. #addictedtodeliciousfood We have gone to over 20 places in the last 3 years and are trying to make sure we get to this years top 10 ASAP.
Who are you pulling for in the playoffs? What’s your latest favorite restaurant? What great things happened in your life this week??
