I’m in a funk. Writers block. Workout rut. Just all around exhausted. And no I’m not pregnant (to my knowledge). Wedding euphoria threw me off my workout game, my healthy eating, and my meal planning/creating recipes to share. I am not feeling motivated for any of the above. I’ve thrown together easy at home meals but nothing recipe worthy. My workouts have been seriously lacking because of being so busy pre wedding and now that everything is done, I’m finding it hard to get back on track. I have a 10 mile race on Sunday and my training has been pretty minimal, I’m definitely not trying to PR but just want to complete it without injury. Haha. No but seriously… life has become slightly whacky. I’m hoping to get back on track in May!
So instead of a recipe here is a grocery list… just some of the staples I like to get…
Fruits: whatever is in season, frozen blueberries/strawberries, bananas, mandarin oranges, apples, raisins, dried cranberries, crushed tomatoes
Veggies: squash, cauliflower, spinach/kale, sweet potatoes, broccoli, peppers (preferably red), yellow onions, baby carrots
Grains: Oats, quinoa, whole grain rice/pasta/orzo/couscous
Fats: Olive oil, coconut oil, avocado, nuts (walnuts, almonds, cashews)
Proteins: chicken breast, tofu, tempeh, eggs, beans, lentils
Seasoning: balsamic vinegar, basil, cilantro, garlic powder, garlic, cumin, rice vinegar, miso
Extras/sweet things: 70% or higher cacao chips, Stevia, protein powder, vanilla extract, nut butters,cheese of any kind, milk (cows, almond, or coconut)
This isn’t everything I buy, just some of my usual stuff, I try to buy stuff on sale too. I don’t eat healthy 100% of the time, usually my cheat meals are when I go out to eat. I definitely have my guilty pleasures but try to incorporate healthier foods in with them. I pretty much never bake because when I do I want to eat the whole pan of brownies… but definitely indulge in dessert when I’m out to eat. I say I try to follow an 80/20 lifestyle- 80% healthy and 20% not so healthy. Moderation is important. That’s why I don’t believe in following any specific kind of diet unless it’s medically necessary. So you see a mix of everything in my grocery cart or basket.
