For those of you that didn’t know… March is National Nutrition Month® which was created by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) and gives health professionals the opportunity to bring awareness to the field of nutrition and dietetics. Taken directly from the eatright.org website, AND defines itself as the world’s largest organization of food and nutrition professionals. It is not exclusive to Registered Dietitians but consists of highly educated individuals with a plethora of nutrition related focuses with the main goal to improve health. As a member of AND, it has given me great opportunities for learning, networking, and building my career as a Registered Dietitian.
For the complete definition and explanation of a RD or RDN please click the link below to access the AND website. Additional information can be found here including life cycle nutrition, nutrition regarding various diseases and health conditions, sports and exercise nutrition recommendations, and other resources. Products, recipes, book reviews, and many other helpful tips, tools, and materials are also included on the Academy’s website. Some information is exclusive to members but basic nutrition informational links are accessible to the public.
