Linking up with Running with Spoons for Thinking Out Loud Thursday
Well I have an awesome recipe to share but unfortunately photographing it hasn’t happened yet so enter random Thursday musings. Here’s a sneak peak though, it’s a Thai stir fry. And it’s delicious!!
1). Speaking of recipes and the blog and posting… it hasn’t been awesome. I’ve struggled with so much personally the past few months the blog definitely took a backseat. I think throwing myself back into making recipes, sharing workouts, training/exercising, etc. will help me get back to my old self. In the new year- look for hopefully weekly recipe posting and more! I’d like to get back to at least two posts/week if not 3! Plus I still haven’t learned how to use my new fancy camera to take awesome pics- so I’m getting a tutorial in a couple weeks and then hopefully I’ll be ready to go!
PS I even missed my Blogiversary- 2 years of blogging and continuing to grow!
2) . I’ll be honest- my old self would be excited about this time of year- not in the overly holiday sparkles everywhere kind of way but in the excited to be buying gifts, planning holiday outings, decorating, and making awesome holiday eats. I’m doing none of that. In fact my immediate family and I decided not to celebrate Christmas this year. Instead we are going away to a resort for a couple days to avoid the Christmas cheer and traditions.
3). Back to the gym!!!! Marathon training was a bit of a joke as I’ve mentioned previously. I barely ran 3 times a week and cross training only existed in the form of yoga once a week. I miss lifting, I miss spinning, I miss HIIT workouts, I miss swimming! After taking off a week after the marathon I’ve been working my way back into the gym with the main goal of building strength and lots of cross training. My weekly workout plan for December is as follows:
Arms and abs- 1x/week
December is just getting back into it and reworking some muscle groups that haven’t been used regularly since maybe September…this is a base phase and January will be adding in longer runs (hopefully doing a half marathon this spring) and more swim/spin (planning on my first Half Ironman this summer).
4). My organizational and usual on top of things self has been lacking- my start up business isn’t still quite in full swing but that is another goal to conquer after the holiday madness. I’m working on website building, private practice, corporate wellness etc. So much to learn and do.
5). There are a couple of personal things I’ve been lacking in the past few months… I hoping I can turn over a new leaf and find myself and my spirit once more. I know my dad would want me to do the things that make me happy and make me a better person so I’d like to get back to that person.
So while I haven’t been quite myself I know what I need to do to get back there… I know it’s not going to happen for Christmas and while I don’t exactly believe in New Year’s resolutions these are definitely goals to take action in the New Year. Have you started thinking about your goals for next year? Something you’d like to accomplish, let go of, or change?
